Keith 'KCC' Franklin Biography
Born and raised in London Keith started to dj for his friends while still at school and had his first professional gig at JEAN PIERES in Greek street in 1979. From there he started his first residency alongside his brother MEL djing at one of London's premiere nights THE LIFT in London's Soho from 1981 to 1986. It was while djing at THE LIFT that Keith was introduced to house music by a friend (Trevor Lewis). When THE LIFT finally ended Keith secured a residency at London's infamous Wag Club alongside Mark Moore from S-Express.
Keith KCC also started djing at some of London's pirate radio station's and met up with Kid Batchelor & Lesley Lawrence and formed the infamous BANG THE PARTY, around Christmas 1986, releasing two singles, Jaques Theme & Release Your Body on the Warriors Dance/Kool Kats Label before leaving in the middle of album to form SLF producing one of England's first Acid House tracks Show Me Wot You Got.
As well as djing and producing music Keith started working as a sound engineer/ programmer and worked with the likes of Shut Up And Dance, Femi Kuti, Rose Windross (Soul to Soul), Dj Hype, Double Trouble, Derrick May and many others.
It was while working as a programmer that Keith met up with the very talented Cisco Ferreira (The Advent) and went on to form the original KCC line up with Colin McBean (Mr G). KCC standing for the initials in each of their names. They worked together for a number of years and were at the forefront of the original english house music scene. In 1992 they produced two tracks for Azuli records "Groove Thing" and “Heaven”. Which helped put Azuli records on the map aswell as securing a release on the new Shelter records, giving Kerri Chandler Heaven to do his first ever remix. As the KCC crew they secured another residency at London's Melange club, alongside LTJ Bukem, which ran for about 3 years.
Keith was also busy on the warehouse party scene at the time playing at a lot of the Translantic warehouse parties alongside people like , Judge Jules, Andrew Weatherhall, Mr C, Colin Favour,Trevor Nelson, Bobby & Steve etc.
In 1993 Keith and with his brother Mel started there own club KCC club as well as holding down residencies at London's Fierce Child Alongside Smokin Jo, Danny Rampling and Frankie Knuckles. Tony Humpries,Todd Terry etc.
From here Keith started doing England's club circuit playing at all the big clubs i.e. the Ministry of Sound etc.
In 1991 Keith & his Brother Mel teamed up with the Rockin Crew soundsystem and became one of the biggest attractions @ the Notting Hill Carnival. The KCC & The Rockin Crew have now become a bit of an Carnival institution, attracting the largest crowd ever for a Carnival sound system in 1999 as well as international DJ's from around the world, such as DJ Disciple, Roger Sanchez, Mousse T, Pete Heller, Matt Jam Lamont, Dj Spoony, Bobby & Steve,Boy George, Dj Spoony ,The Shapeshifters etc. alongside corporate sponsors such as KA, Naked Juice, Benson & Hedges, Red Bull, T- Mobile and BT amongst others.
In 1995 KCC & The Rockin Crew won the BASS "Best Alternative Sound System" Award.
Between 1997-98 Keith Joined the Nice & Ripe stable of labels and released 6 Eps, under various names alongside artist such as Ty Holden & Jeremy Sylvester.
Over the years Keith has played on various Mix shows for many radio stations including Kiss Fm, Galaxy Fm, Paris FG, Skyrock, Swedish National radio,Girls FM, Unknown FM ssradio.uk CyberJamz Radio (New York), and now does shows foe DigitalClubradio.com
Since those heady days has gone on to remix tracks for the likes of Whitney Houston, Sounds of Blackness, Ann Nesby and Marshall Jefferson's Rock Your Body,Boris Dulugosh,and Kenny Thomas Maceo Parker and Seal amongst others and is forever busy on the dj front,touring europe continuously for the past years playing at some of Europe's premiere clubs in Italy, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Ibiza etc.
2011 saw a new beginning with Keith teaming up with Adriano Rossetti, KCC & Rossetti releasing their first remix project for Ron Carrol's label Electricity ( Michelle Shellers- Love like this).
They have now started a new label with the first release coming before the end of 2012.
